MARCH 13, 2025 – MANLIUS, NY- According to report sent to us by Captain Slater of the Manlius Police Department and an article appearing on Officer.com, a Manlius police officer used a rope and a ResQ Disc to save a woman in Green Lakes State Park after she fell through the ice and became stuck on the frozen lake when she pulled herself out.
Manlius police and local firefighters rescued a woman trapped on the ice at Green Lakes State Park.
Police and fire crews responded at about 1:50 p.m. on Feb. 26 to the state park in the town of Manlius. It was reported that the woman fell through the ice, was able to get herself out of the water, but was now stuck on the ice.
Police officer Katlyn Cook deployed a ResQ Disc — an orange, frisbee-like device with rope attached — to the woman.
While staying safely on solid ground/footing, Cook, using the rope attached to the ResQ Disc was able to pull the woman. Other first responders arrived to assist as well.
