DECEMBER 28, 2024, BEDFORD, MA – According to Bedford, MA Police and news coverage by NBC 10 Boston, a woman, in an attempt to save her dog from icy waters, fell through ice on the partially frozen Concord River. A nearby woman attempted to help and she also fell in. Then a third individual attempted to help them all and also fell into the icy waters.

Officers Coady and Sanchez, on the force less than 90 days, responded to the call. Deploying their ResQ Discs, the rookie officers were able to save all three individuals AND the dog. The woman was taken to a local hospital (most likely to be treated for hypothermia which can set in within minutes).

As always, we recommend being cautious on and around frozen waterways. We are thankful that these officers were able to get to the victims quickly.
